And here is a short description of the event: 

This conference and book talk will introduce the new English-language reader in Sinophone studies entitled Sinophone Studies across Disciplines (Columbia UP, 2024). 

Framing the book talk in terms of comparative empire studies as a way to stage a critique of the exceptionalism of both area studies and Eurocentrism, the lecture will explore the potential of Sinophone studies in the new age of empires that is our contemporary historical moment.
