SINOPHONE STUDIES

A Luminous Open Access Book Series

Shu-mei Shih, Series Editor

Sinophone Studies seeks to publish cutting-edge scholarship in Sinophone studies, which is devoted to the study of Sinitic-language communities and cultures around the world constituted by histories of immigration, empire, continental colonialism, and settler colonialism.  In recent decades, the field has seen an explosive growth in terms of both high-level scholarly engagement as well as quantity of publications. As an interdisciplinary field that is situated at the intersection of multiple fields, Sinophone studies captures the critical and innovative front in the related intellectual configurations of area studies, postcolonial studies, ethnic studies, minority nationality studies, transnational studies, immigration studies, settler colonial studies, indigenous studies, diaspora studies, cinema studies, queer studies, and others. We seek manuscripts that do not merely examine Sinophone communities and cultures as data, object, or case, but engage conceptually with Sinophone studies as a field from comparative, relational, theoretical, and interdisciplinary perspectives.
